FREQUANTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
SERVICES:
Is AB Travel Coordinates a Travel Agency?
No. While there may be certain aspects of our consulting services that assist with finding hotel accommodations, excursions and a suggested itinerary for clients, AB Travel Coordinates operates mainly as a Tour Company, curating travel packages that are fully designed, planned, booked, and operated by our company.
Can AB Travel Coordinates host and/or plan travel packages for my own group?
We sure can! The dates, however, cannot conflict with any dates listed on our planned itineraries. Your group must be a minimum of 5 people, age 18 and over. For more info, check out our Exclusive Services page.
DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS:
Is the deposit refundable?
Deposits are refundable, up to 24 hours from the time of booking. After 24 hours, the service deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE.
Why is the deposit for my trip non-refundable after 24hr from the time of booking?
To ensure that all accommodations, events, and excursions are secured and booked according to plan, we move to book services with local vendors quickly. Many of these services (e.g., on-tour activities) are non-refundable and can’t be transferred or used by another traveler. Even if services can be cancelled, they might incur a cancellation or admin fee, which is covered by your deposit.
I booked a double occupancy spot with my friend. Can I pay my share of the deposit only?
Yes. Each individual traveler is responsible for registering their own spot through each trip's registration form. To ensure proper tracking, you will need to include the name of your accompanying roommate during the time of registration. Your roommate will have a one-month grace period to submit their information. Any double occupancy accommodation that is booked without a roommate confirmation after the one-month grace period, will be changed to a single occupancy space, and applicable charges will apply.
How does the payment plan option work?
When you purchase a tour using a payment plan, a one-time deposit is due at the time of purchase.
After the deposit has been paid, a monthly payment equal to the amount referred to in the payment plan option will be due by the 15th of each month for the duration of your plan (duration varies per trip date). No payment plan is available for reservations made ninety (90) days or less from the date of travel.
When is the final payment due for my trip?
Full payment, regardless of when you booked, is required 90 days before departure to avoid trip cancellation. You can view your payment due date by checking your account or referencing the end of your monthly invoice. We’ll also email you at least a week before the due date to give you a heads-up.
Can I transfer or switch to another trip after I have made a deposit or full payment for another trip?
Deposits and/or payments can be transferred to an open trip available for booking or to any other person who is willing to travel on the current reserved trip, anytime up to 6 months before the current booked trip’s departure date. Any changes to an existing reservation, however, whatever the cause, will incur a fee of $100.
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS:
Can I cancel my trip?
Yes, you are free to cancel your trip if you no longer wish to join the experience. Please note that cancellations made within 24 hours of the deposit date will be refunded. Cancellations made after 24 hours are non-refundable.
What happens if AB Travel Coordinates cancels my trip?
In the rare event that it becomes necessary to cancel a trip, that same trip will be rescheduled. If you are unable to attend the new trip dates, you will receive a trip credit, valid for 12 months from the date the trip is rescheduled, to apply to a future trip.
Do you offer refunds?
No. All payments made towards a AB Travel Coordinates trip are non-refundable.
LODGING INFORMATION:
What hotel are you staying at?
It is our goal to always provide affordable, quality hotel accommodations with all our travel packages. Under the “What’s Included” section of our itinerary, travelers can find the star rating of the hotels we will be using. We provide complete hotel details four weeks before the departure of each trip.
What’s the difference between “Double Occupancy” and “Solo Occupancy”?
Double Occupancy refers to the number of people (2) that will stay in the room. Our double occupancy accommodations typically have 2 queen beds in each room.
Single Occupancy refers to accommodations made for one “solo” traveler. Our solo occupancy accommodations typically have one king- or queen-sized bed in each room.
Will I be paired with a roommate?
AB Travel Coordinates currently does not assist with roommate pairing. Travelers looking to book double occupancy accommodations must already have an accompanying roommate at the time of booking.
What time can I check in at my arrival hotel?
Check-in times can vary from hotel to hotel and region to region. Generally, they are between midday and 3pm. If you do arrive earlier, you’ll be able to store your luggage at the hotel and head out to explore for a couple of hours.
Can I request an early check-in?
We can’t confirm that a hotel will allow an early check-in. Travelers can check with the hotel staff upon arrival, regarding an early check-in request.
Can I add an extra night at the beginning or end of my group trip?
No additional night(s) will be added to our travel packages at the request of any traveler. If extra days are needed, travelers should book their extra day(s) independent of our travel packages and on their own.
GROUP TRIP SIZE AND AGE RESTRICTIONS
How many people will be on my trip?
Good things come in small packages, which is why we keep our group sizes small. This allows us to remain flexible as we navigate our way through activities and communities. Most of our trips are limited to an intimate group of 10 to 12. Please note that your booked trip will proceed as scheduled regardless of the number of participants, even if there are fewer than 3 individuals.
Are there age restrictions on your trips?
AB Travel Coordinates welcomes any traveler over the age of 21. Though our trips do not have a maximum age limit, it is suggested that travelers over the age of 65 do a “self-assessment” to determine if a particular trip is the right fit for them, prior to booking.
TRAVEL PACKAGES DETAILS, INCLUSIONS, AND EXCLUSIONS
What’s included in your travel packages?
Hotel accommodations for the duration of the trip, as well as, all activities and entry fees listed on the itinerary, most meals (see itinerary for exclusions), local intercountry transportation, English-speaking guides for all excursions, and all services charges, taxes, and fees. What’s not included in your travel packages?
Alcoholic beverages, hotel room charges or incidentals, travel insurance, international flights, entry visas, airport transportation, gratuity, individual activities, personal spending, or additional excursions.
Can I opt out of certain activities if I want to?
Absolutely. If there are any included or optional activities that you don’t wish to participate in, you are not required to participate. Please note that if you choose to opt out of an included activity, no reimbursement can be made.
What if I arrive late and miss part of the trip?
If you know in advance that you will be arriving late, please let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate you. We will either leave instructions at the hotel reception desk or communicate with you directly, as to where to meet our group that night or the following morning.
If you plan to arrive a day or more into the itinerary (and our group has moved to a different destination), it will be your responsibility to ‘catch up’ with the group. AB Travel Coordinates cannot reimburse you for any portion of the trip unused, but you can attempt to claim it through your travel insurance.
When will I know all the details of my trip?
All trip details are available in the trip itinerary. If there are last-minute changes, we’ll email you an update before the trip begins. A final itinerary with hotel information will be provided four weeks in advance of the trip's departure date.
TRAVEL VISAS AND INSURANCE:
Does AB Travel Coordinates assist with obtaining travel visas?
No. All travelers are responsible for securing the required visas if the trip requires one.
How do I find out about the visa requirements for the trip I am interested in?
While we do include information on our trip itineraries about passport/visa requirements and provide additional information about entry, visa, and health requirements on our website, it is each traveler’s responsibility to check with their local embassy as visa rules can change without warning. Embassy websites in your home country will always have information about requirements and visa costs and will provide the required forms.
What travel insurance is required?
Travel medical insurance is required. Your travel insurance policy should be a minimum of USD $100,000 (or equivalent currency) in total coverage for medical emergency evacuation and repatriation. We will verify that all travelers have such insurance in place and coverage as per the requirements listed above.
We recommend using Allianz or World Nomads, but you have the choice to use any travel insurance provider you'd like. However, proof of insurance is required at least one month before the scheduled departure. Failure to provide accurate proof of insurance prior to attending our trips will result in cancellation.
FOOD, DRINK, AND DIETARY REQUIREMENTS:
I have special dietary requirements – will they be catered for?
We will try our very hardest to accommodate all dietary requirements but, in some places, it can be very difficult to guarantee. Please let us know at the time of booking of any food requirements or allergies.
What will the food be like on my trip?
Food is one of the most exciting parts of travel. There may be some familiar dishes or food chains but often you’ll be confronted with foods that are new, interesting, and/or downright weird! This alone can be an adventure in and of itself. Given the flexibility of our itineraries we often will allow you to eat with the group or branch out on your own - this means you can eat to suit any budget or desire.
Can I drink the water in the countries I visit?
In some destinations it may not be wise to drink the local water. For more details, you may want to seek out additional information through your own research.
MISCELLANEOUS:
What is the currency in my destination?
Currency information is included on all trip itineraries.
Can I use my credit card during my trip?
In most cases, yes. Credit cards are accepted worldwide. They are less commonly accepted however, in underdeveloped communities. You may want to check with your credit card provider for more details around usage when traveling abroad or for details regarding and fees associated with using your card internationally.
How much should I take in credit cards/cash?
The consensus is each traveler should budget between $50 to $100 per day. However, this amount can vary depending on the location. We recommend having a decent amount of the local currency available in the event the USD is not accepted.
Can I invite a friend?
Yes, and please do! However, all spaces are first come first serve, if your friend(s) do not book before we sell out, they will not be able to join.
Is tipping common in other parts of the world?
Yes, in most places tipping is expected. On our trip itineraries we provide a recommendation on how much to tip at restaurants or with local guides. However, the amount of a tip you decide to give is completely up to you.

AB Travel Coordinates is extremely cautious when it comes to choosing our business partners and vendors.
